An Example of Content Repurposing – Article, Video, Audio, and More!

Okay, so I’m not quite into the “more” stage yet, but I have the article, the audio, and the video part taken care of so far. Repurposing your content is a great way to extend your reach to your target market and expand your audience.
The great thing about this process is that your content can start off as any one of the different forms. If you have an audio, have it transcribed into an article. If you have an article read it out loud while recording and you’ve got an audio. Add a power point presentation to that and you’ve got a video.
Don’t like to write? No worries, you don’t always have to. Grab a pack of PLR articles on your topic. While you can’t submit these to places like Ezine Articles you can use the written form on your blog, submit the videos to video sharing sites, and submit the audios to podcast sites or offer them as a bonus to your readers.
Okay. I promised you an example. So, here we go… I started with an article titled Budget Meal Planning Made Easier Than Ever.
The first thing I did was submit it to EzineArticles.com, and you can see it live there if you’d like http://ezinearticles.com/?Budget-Meal-Planning-Made-Easier-Than-Ever&id=4046881 Then I submitted it to a few other niche article directories as well.
The next thing I did was create a slide presentation. You can do this with Power Point or Open Office Impress, which is free open source software. Once I had my slides ready it was time to create my video.
I used Camstudio for screen capture video, which is also a free software and comparable to Camtasia. It has slightly less features than Camtasia, but at the price of free I’m certainly not going to complain and it gets the job done.
I had my slide presentation ready on the screen, fired up Camstudio, hit the record button and began narrating the article. Here’s the resulting video of the same article that was used above:
You can also use Microsoft Movie Maker to create your presentation, which comes standard on most PCs these days, by just dropping in screen shots of text and images. The disadvantage there is you have to record the audio separately and overlay it.
Then for just audio I used a converter that pulls the audio out of a video and just hit a few buttons and was done. Now I have three content formats all created from one piece of original content and it was super easy to do.
Once you start creating and submitting your content in various places it will spread like wildfire. You’ll have more backlinks, more sales, more traffic, more repeat customers, more, more, and more. See, I told you there would be more.
I hope this example helps you to at least get some ideas for repurposing your own content into different formats. If you need any help with technical details or you get stuck on something just let me know. You can email me directly or leave a comment on this post and I’ll get you through it.
Kind Regards,

Very cool, you make it seem so easy! Sometimes we really over think things. My question is what do you do with just the audio? Do you have a podcast or some place else you distribute it?

Admittedly, this used to be really hard for me because I would just over think everything about it. It’s only been recently that I’ve been able to get my head out of the sand and move forward. (Thanks to @NicoleDean and @LynnTerry for reminding me that things don’t need to be complicated!)
Ideas for the audio file… You can submit it to podcast directories, including iTunes. You can upload it to Blog Talk Radio as a show episode (depending on length, I can’t remember if they have a minimum.), some article directories allow you to add an additional audio file (like Nicole’s LadyPens.com) … some are also allowing you to include your video version with your text article too.)
Another idea is to send the audio to podcasters with related topics who have sponsored segments, they can play your article audio has a feature or a sponsor spot during the breaks in their show.
I’m sure there are other things, but that’s off the top of my head tonight.
Thank you, that is so helpful! I am just now getting into doing video for some of my sites and still trying to get over how silly I think I sound

Oh, I totally understand that! I try not to listen to myself when I’m finished. I’ll give it a quick listen for error checking but I always things I sound ridiculous!
I’ve had to transcribe myself before… now that is weird.
