Getting Out of Your Business Rut

This post has been sitting in the back of my mind for awhile now. I was avoiding it, because I was worried that it might be too personal of a topic for our business basics theme here at Easy Wahm Websites. Then my husband had one of his brilliant moments without realizing it when he said to me, “Isn’t that why you work from home though? To be personal and to live life?” He was so right. His simple, sweet comment turned into my own epiphany. Go figure.
October was awful for me. I had a lot of personal issues going on, everyone got the flu, my internet went out off and on, and probably worst of all I had a nasty battle with depression. The bottom line is things did not get done. My one and only goal this week is to get things caught back up and email everyone gigantic apologies for neglecting their projects.
At first it was difficult to tell if my rut was personal or business related. Then when my husband said that simple sentence to me, I realized that it was both. My business life is personal to me. I take my client projects personally and consider my clients my friends as well. That is why I do what I do. I want to help other folks work from home and meet their goals.
I know it all sounds very silly when I say it like that, but in the back of my mind it really made total sense. Fall and Winter are times when many people do get into that rut. The change of seasons and the early sunset can make us do things we normally wouldn’t do. In addition to that the holidays are approaching, and you might need a little boost if you’re not particularly looking forward to the season.
My point today is that I encourage everyone to take a moment or two, or ten, and look at yourself. How are you feeling? Have you taken some needed me time and pampered yourself a bit lately? Unwind, read a book, take a bubble bath, whatever you need to do to clear your head and focus on yourself. If you feel you have signs and symptoms of depression or SADD, call your doctor’s office and schedule an appointment to talk about it.
To your wellbeing and success,

Glad you posted this Loretta. I think a lot of people go through this so it wasn’t silly at all.
Lately I have let something personal hold me back which in turn didn’t help business as I didn’t get anything done. I think I’m almost out of the funk LOL
Sending hugs your way. You’re hubby is a smart man!

Thanks, Angie. Now, keeping myself out of the rut is a bit difficult, but I’m taking things day by day.
