How Are Your Affiliate Commissions This Month? What You Say and Do as an Affiliate Matters

Well, of course it matters, what you say always matters. But, specifically I mean as an affiliate promoting a product. Words are important when you’re trying to convey a message online and especially when you’re trying to make a sale online. In fact, in most cases I think it is better not to try to sell, but just to connect with people on some level.
I was looking at some stats this morning for Transcription Crash Course to see how things are going, what’s working, what’s not working, etc… I noticed the top referrer to the sales page is not the top earner as an affiliate and I wondered why that was. So, off to look at what those affiliates were doing differently.
Now, I’m not going to name names or point fingers or show you the sites! That would just be wrong. My affiliates need my trust just as much as my customers do and I would never reveal their stats without their permission. So, we’ll say Affiliate A and Affiliate Z for the purpose of this discussion.
Affiliate A is our top traffic refer for the product sales page.
Affiliate Z is our top commission earner for the product.
Affiliate A referred hundreds of people to the page, but none of them purchased.
Affiliate Z referred less than 50 people, but had a very good conversion rate and multiple sales.
Affiliate A drove traffic randomly with no content or explanation.
Affiliate Z wrote a review of the product and gave an opinion.
Are you seeing the differences happening here and how they directly impact each marketer’s efforts? The way you promote things makes a huge difference.
