Well, now there is. NAMS has gone virtual, at least for the January event.

I’m very excited about this because I can never attend the January event because of my husband and kids’ schedules, so this is great for me. I can be at home with my fuzzy slippers, my cup of coffee, and my note taking pad and get some great information from some of my favorite mentors (including Lynn Terry, Nicole Dean, Susanne Myers, and more…)

It couldn’t get any better than that, right? Well, that’s what I thought, but our organizer David Perdew likes to keep us on our toes and he is always coming up with new ways to amaze and wow us. When you purchase a seat at the virtual event that starts January 14th you also get a seat at the live in person event in August. Yes, you read that correctly, two events for one price.

So, I picked up my ticket and I’m all set and looking forward to diving in starting on Friday. The new event plan looks great so far and I love that we’re using the January event to prepare and get the foundation built on our marketing projects for the new year and then for the August event we’re going to grow those out even more. It’s going to be an awesome year!

If you’re worried that it might be a little too much, don’t panic, there are four “tracks” that you can choose from, two different levels of beginner, an intermediate level, and of course the advanced level that we are all striving to reach. You can choose where you best fit in and there’s something for everyone.

A quick note there, at the live events you would certainly find many of hopping from room to room during the day to get the class we felt best fit our business plan. NAMS is a customizable marketing class, the goal is for you to get the tools and education resources you need to grow your individual business.

Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t get anything out of the workshop, because I truly got so much from it and it directly helped me to focus and grow my business online. Ultimately, it led me to have a better set of goals for both my income and the lifestyle that I want overall. It’s not all about money after all.

So, first I took a look at the thing I was able to accomplish after NAMS last summer. I contribute a portion of my success in these things directly to attending NAMS and also to being part of Lynn Terry’s Mastermind Group. Without those two things I would never have made the amazing people connections that I made in the past year and I would still be stuck inside my own head wondering what to do next.

• I was able to create a free viral report for my cross stitch site and that has received great feedback. <- I actually did this at NAMS during a session led by Lynn Terry and Jeff Herring. It was an ah-ha moment for sure.
• I cut back on my domain name addiction and got rid of anything that didn’t have content on it or that was distracting me from things that were more important.
• I was able to make connections with awesome people!
• I was able to create my own info product confidently and launch it out to the virtual world. That too has received great feedback so far.
• I was able to increase my income by double in the past year due to the things I learned and the connections I’ve made.
• I was able to blog more freely, confidently, and without being stuck on what to write about.
• I saw how adding affiliate marketing to my plan would allow for passive income and multiple income streams and relieve a huge weight of stress.

Okay, so I’m basically brainstorming out loud here at this point, but here are the goals I have listed for this summer so far.

• Increase income with specific financial goals by the end of the summer and the end of the year.
• Add one affiliate review style website to my website collection. (I actually want to have this started before I get to NAMS in August)
• Build links and rank in the top five results for at least three main keywords for that affiliate review style website.
• Add two more info products to my portfolio by the end of the year. (Have one partially done already)
• Grow my transcription business and incorporate a team of backup transcriptionists. (Already in progress)
• Outsource a little more than I already am so that I can focus on product creation and transcription clients.
• Build links, build links, build links. (I’m currently working my way through the 5,000 Backlinks product and testing out some other strategies as well as looking at outsourcing this piece of my business to free up some more time.)

So, this general plan of action gives me three income streams as far as I can see. One, direct service based income trading time for money in my transcription service offerings. Two, affiliate income from the affiliate review style product website. Three, direct income from the sales made of the info products I create. Number three is most interesting because that is income from sales made directly by me and by the affiliates of the product, so the growth potential is huge.

Now, I just need to figure out my direct plan of action for each thing on my list and start incorporating and implementing appropriate strategies to reach those goals. I’m thinking there will be quite a bit of outsourcing involved and that’s okay with me, I love paying other people to do things and helping them increase their income too! Outsourcing is always win-win in my book.

Okay, now that I have rambled on about my goals and ideas I would really like to hear from you. What are your current goals and is there anything you are struggling with?

The tendency is to think about the exciting things you learned and the people you met – for a while. After a week, you seem to lose your enthusiasm and settle back into life before the event. That is the last thing you want to do especially where your business is concerned.

Now is the time to cement that lasting impression that you believe you made on the people you met at the seminar. Don’t let a moment go by, from the time you get home, that you are not harnessing the power of that meeting. Besides you know yourself that out of sight truly does mean out of mind if there is no contact for a while.

Here are a few tips to help you get the ball rolling on that pocket full of business cards, that camera full of pictures and that briefcase (or tote) full of helpful handouts and resources.

1. Create a new plan. Now that your head is swimming with ideas, take out that handy notebook and look at what you’ve jotted down. If you have been putting off an affiliate program for one reason or another, this may be the perfect time to get going. Find out a new way to streamline your shopping cart or optimize your website? Flesh out a plan to get the ball rolling right now.
2. Email your new colleagues. Each business card in your hand should contain the website and email address of the one who handed it to you. Contact each person individually and tell them what a great time you had meeting them. To give them a mental picture of you, include your picture at the end of the email. What will impress them is if you can recount one tidbit from your conversation with them and include it also.
3. Get involved in online social networking. Find your new peeps on all the social networks: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn. Invite them to be friends or followers (depending on the site) so you can keep in close contact.
4. Blog about the experience. Get your readers interested in the event happenings. Share your experiences and any new business takeaway advice you received.
5. Develop new products. Talk about leveraging! You can turn that one seminar presentation into a wealth of digital products. Create an e-course on your topic. Use the handouts as filler for your monthly newsletter, content for your site or new topics for video media. Those brainstorming techniques you developed at the event will come in handy now.

Lisa and I planned this trip together from the beginning. It was something we both needed and wanted to do. We’re both Elite Member’s at Lynn Terry’s SSWT Forum, we work together here at Easy Wahm Websites, and we have Product Review PLR as a project together as well. We do a lot of the same things, online and offline, so we just sort of click.

So, despite already knowing Lisa this was the first time we met in person. Even though she didn’t feel well for part of the weekend, it was great to be able to hang out with her and do things that worked toward the mutual goals we share in business.

We even went and found a geocache together after the NAMS event on the way to the airport. Meeting up with Lisa was like going home to visit friends and family. It was just a normal natural thing to do.

Nicole also included us as a stop on her Summer Blog Tour (for which I still owe her a t-shirt design and my left kidney!) She’s so committed that on Monday when we were getting ready to leave she mentioned the blog tour stop, and I told her to please take the day off and get some rest, she insisted on not missing a day on the tour. She did a fantastic job with the blog tour all summer, didn’t miss a single post, and she gave us all some really great information.

So, who is Nicole Dean? She’s that spunky gal at the table on the left who’s full of brilliant ideas and always loads of fun. From what I hear she made such a great impression as an attendee at NAMS 2 that she’s been asked to be one of the instructors for NAMS 3 in January! You can find Michael at Sharp Pixel Designs, and he does beautiful work. One of the most requested things at NAMS would be a “Magic Myke to take home in your pocket!” because he went above and beyond helping organizer David Perdew get things up and running, solving internet connection problems, and just in general helping people out all weekend long!

Every time I saw Michael he was working on something. I even saw him working from his phone a few times, because the hotel’s internet connection just wasn’t fast enough for him. He was one of the handful of aides that helped with the event, and did more than his share of assisting. I don’t think there’s anything he can’t fix at this point, because I saw him do so many awesome things while we were at NAMS!

Michael is one of the most mature 16 year olds in the world. I had to keep reminding myself in the back of my mind that he’s only 16, because when you’re talking to him you really don’t realize it! If you haven’t met Mike yet, check out his portfolio and then strike up a conversation with him on Twitter! He’s a great person to talk to, definitely not your average kid.

Listening to Aileen speak is very motivating and a lot of fun too. She has a great way of making you smile, making you think, and she might even make you tear up a little in one eye. She just filled the room with positive energy and it was a great way to get us all motivated before we broke up into smaller groups to get to work.

I also had the pleasure of chatting with Aileen on Monday afternoon before we all left the hotel. It is impossible to not smile when she’s nearby. She just brings the happy out in everybody when she’s around. one of the first things I did when I got home and started going over my notes was to sign up for Aileen’s newsletter, because I was just so moved and motivated by her.

I first heard about the event from Lynn’s SSWT Forum. I was interested at first, but not enough to really look at it closely. I’ve always sort of passed over live events because of the high price tag they usually carry. The first thing that I realized was different about NAMS was that it wasn’t a pitch-fest all about making the presenters money. It was actually an affordable thing to go to!

I’ve followed Lynn for quite awhile now. Since way back in the early years of my being online and wanting to build a business. I joined the Elite members last fall when I realized I needed to make more passive income so that my business could run even when I was busy doing other things, like taking care of my husband who had become seriously ill.

I was looking for things, and there was Lynn’s SSWT and Clicknewz! coming up over and over again right in front of my eyes. The internet was telling me something. Lynn is good at what she does! Ever have one of those ah-ha moments where the light bulb goes off in your head and you say, “Duh! I knew that!” Well, that was me the day I joined the Elite forum. I knew that I needed it, I just didn’t know that I knew.

I’ll save you my emotional rambling on about it again. I’m sure you’ve heard it from hundreds of times. Joining the Elite member’s group is the best thing I’ve done for me in a long time.

I’ve long attended Lynn’s free Tuesday webinars for everyone, and we’ve got Thursday brainstorming hour with the Elite member’s group. Lynn gives, and gives, and gives to her community whether you’re free member or a paid member, there is something there for you! Here’s a special get together Lynn hosted for the Elite SSWT Members over the weekend at the NAMS event. We had a great time actually getting to chat in person instead of over the webinar!

If you’ve ever been to Lynn’s blog Clicknewz! you probably have an idea about her style, and her heartfelt honesty. She tells it like it is and if something doesn’t work, she doesn’t promote it to you.

When you meet Lynn Terry in person, she is exactly as you expect her to be. Smiling, happy, and joy to be around. She might even make you cry during a presentation, because you can feel the emotion in her voice when she tells her story.

I don’t think it’s possible to be in a room or at a table with Lynn and not smile. She makes sure everyone is having a good time and she wants you to feel comfortable. I thought I’d be nervous as all heck sitting down to meet her … after all, I’m just a little newbie and this is Lynn Terry! But, that didn’t happen. Sitting down with Lynn is like sitting down with your neighbor that you’ve known for 20 years and having lunch. It’s comfortable, it’s honest, it’s real.

I was so happy to be able to stay a little later on Monday and have lunch with Lynn and some of the other folks that had late flights out or that were driving home. It was a wonderful weekend. and I’m so glad that I was there to learn these things and to meet new friends.

The thing that makes this event different than other events is that you don’t just sit around and listen to a bunch of keynote speeches and then go home. You actually DO things. It’s a workshop, not a conference. The speakers are there to help you implement what you learned right away. You can ask questions, get their expert advice, and actually do what you just learned all before you leave each individual workshop.

The pictures above are a panel presentation workshop, David Perdew, Cindi Dawson, Mark Hendricks, Lynn Terry, and Jeff Herring did a complete presentation on the fly (they weren’t sure what they would be doing and what kind of questions they’d have) about how to create an information product using audios in 90 minutes or less. They presented for 60 minutes, and then we broke for lunch. By the end of lunch a complete product was ready and online to sell!

I learned from Lynn Terry, David Perdew, Jeff Herring, Joe Marsh, Mark Hendricks, Willie Crawford, and so many other great people this weekend. One thing that’s great about having a workshop format instead of a conference format is that not only do you learn from the instructors, but you also learn from the other attendees in the room with you.

We all have different experiences to bring to the table, and that really stood out at NAMS. Everyone was asking questions, sharing experiences, resources, recommendations, and ideas. I have so many notes from the conference and I’m still jotting things down even today and I’ve been home for two days now.

Little things keep popping into my head that people said or recommended and I write that down. I’ve also got a stack of business cards from fantastic people that I talked to and I”m making notes on how to best use their experience to compliment my own experiences, projects I want their opinion on, etc…
