I’d like to thank Michaela for writing up our guest post for EWW. She has new group and private coaching options and is willing to freely share tips on how she’s gotten to this point. You can check out many more of her articles on her site Passionate Profitable Moms.

How to Get Paid Creating a Juicy Information Product

Have you ever wondered what it takes to put together a step-by-step guide or system? I’ve seen them for sale and I’ve even invested in a step-by-step guide on marketing and mindset that I absolutely love. But, maybe you and I are a lot alike. I have kids at home and my life is very busy. I would love to put my own system or step-by-step guide together, but how on earth am I supposed to find the time?

Then it occurred to me that I can get paid for creating my genius system. And you can too. (Don’t worry, I’m not selling anything. I just want to share this idea with you).

So, how can you create this amazing, genius product and get paid in the process? It’s simple. Don da da doooon…eCourse!
Okay, now did your jaw just drop in disbelief? Are you thinking, what in the world is she talking about?

Well, hold on there. Don’t stop reading yet.

Let’s say you have a business specializing in WordPress. You love what you do and you have plenty of clients, but you’re tired of working so darn hard and you want to start bringing in some passive income. Plus you want to tell other moms how easy it is to start making money online starting your own blogsite service. What can you do?

·	Create easy, digestible weekly lessons on how to get your WordPress business up and running.
·	Charge a small amount of money to send the lessons via email to hungry learners.
·	Compile all of the weekly lessons and combine them to create a step-by-step guide or system.
·	Hold a couple of free or low-cost tele-classes on your topic.
·	Deliver your new step-by-step guide as an e-Book with audio or use a fulfillment company like, www.vervante.com and have your step-by-step guide with CD’s of the teleclasses delivered as a hard copy.

Voila! You now have a manageable way to create your first information product and get paid for it. That wasn’t hard at all. Now go get busy on creating your new product. I can’t wait to see your natural genius in play.

We hear this question all the time here. When the blogging craze started, blogging was hailed as the new easy way to make money online. Just slap up a blog, add a little content, throw in a few affiliate links, and your future was assured. You know it’s not that easy, don’t you? Of course you do or you wouldn’t be here wondering about it

Before you build your blog you need to do a little bit of niche research. Ask yourself these questions:
Is this niche viable, or is there too much competition?
Can I beat some of the sites on Google’s first page?
Does this niche have buyers, or just tire kickers?
Are there some good affiliate programs associated with this niche?

It’s been said to pursue your passion and the money will follow. This is true to a point, but suppose your passion is juggling machetes? Do you think there’s a market for this skill? The broader niche of juggling might suit you better. Don’t limit yourself to things you know now, though. It’s easy to do research online, so if you have a strong desire to learn about a new topic, starting a blog is a great way to get an education.

I heard Carrie Wilkerson recently say that the passion doesn’t have to be the thing you’re writing about, your passion can simply be taking care of your family and paying your bills or getting out of debt. I thought that was a pretty wise thing in the current economy with so many people looking to get started.

Now that you have your niche you need to get your blog online. Don’t use free blog sites like blogger.com, or wordpress.com. You need your own domain name and your own hosting. These sites have their uses, but you should never trust your content (and maybe your livelihood!) to a free service. If you’re looking to make money with the site you’re creating chances are a few months from now you’re going to want to move it from that freebie service anyway, so I think it’s worth the 8 or 9 dollars to just start with your own domain name.

Okay, you’ve got your domain name and hosting. What platform will you use for your blog? Many people use Wordpress for this. You can install Wordpress using Fantastico in your cPanel, or you can install it manually. You may want to install Wordpress in its own directory rather than in the root folder. This leaves your root folder uncluttered and easy to navigate, but changes your URL from http://www.myblog.com to http://www.myblog.com/some-directory.

Now for the most important part: Content. You need to add posts regularly to your blog. Every day is great if you’re able to, but at least several times weekly. Set up a schedule and stick to it. An advantage of Wordpress is that you can set posts to publish on a certain day. This means you can load posts in advance without having to write new ones every day.

Don’t make the mistake of just adding posts with affiliate links in them. This is a big turn off for visitors. People are coming to your blog for information. If everything on your blog is sell, sell, sell, you will soon be reading it alone.

Now comes the hard part: Traffic. Remember this formula: Content+Backlinks=Traffic. This means that the keyword-optimized content you add to your blog, plus the incoming links you have to your site, equals search engine ranking. The big thing here is backlinks. You can never have enough backlinks.

So, how do you get backlinks? You can post on forums with a link to your site in your signature. You can comment on other relevant blogs. You can submit articles to article directories with a link to your site in your resource box. Post a classified ad on free ad sites with a link to your blog. There are many ways to get backlinks. Just make sure they are relevant to your blog.

To answer the title question, yes it is possible to make money blogging and sometimes a lot of it. The important thing to remember is that it takes work, consistency, and perseverance. Remember that last one, because that’s the real key to making money with a blog.

I hope that clears up some of your questions about getting started blogging for money. If you have any other questions, please leave them in the comments section below or fill out our Ask a Question form. We’d love to help you get started!

Very recently a fellow WAHM was coming out with a new ecourse and I was interested to check it out. I get to the “sales page” explaining the course, what’s included, and why you should take it. All the elements of a typical sales letter were there, but there was one problem. Everything was from a negative perspective, nothing was positive.

Did I purchase what she was selling? No, I did not. Would you? Probably not. I’m not going to name names or point fingers here, so don’t bother to ask. I know that she is currently working on rewriting her description and messages in a more positive light, so the situation will be remedied soon enough. But, it made me think a little.

I looked around the internet a bit and sure enough I found plenty more pages that were very, very negative. Now, don’t misunderstand me, you want your information product to be the cure for a particular pain or problem that someone is having, so of course you have to describe that pain or problem to get your point across. That is not what I am referring to as negative here.

By negative I mean looking at everything from the negative point of view with a negative attitude. I’ve seen a lot of “negative advertising” and “negative marketing” going on a lot lately and I have to say that it doesn’t attract me as a buyer at all and it makes me want to poke you in the eye just a little bit.

A good example without linking to anyone online in particular would be those rotten political ads you see on TV all the time, making yourself look better by making someone else look bad is not the way to win me over for a vote or to buy your stuff, so knock it off and show me some real value in a positive way.

I hope you’re having a super productive Monday today and influencing the internet in a positive way!

Kind Regards,

Summer is in full swing and I’ve noticed a lot of folks struggling to balance summer fun with work and kids activities with business. Here we are as a good example, notice the quiet that fell on the blog here in the beginning of July as we all stepped back to go on vacation and spend time with the kiddos.

It’s a common misconception that summer will bring us more free time if we work at home, when in fact if you have kids chances are you’re going to have less free time in the summer than during the school year (unless you’re a homeschooling family, then that’s a whole different ball of wax!)

So, let’s look at some things we can do to best manage our time during the summer with the kids home, vacations coming up, barbecues to attend, and all the things that make summer what it is.

We want to hear from YOU ~ what’s your best summertime tip for managing it all while still enjoying a few rays of sunshine?

I’ll get us started off with a few…..

Change your schedule to work more at night and less during the day. This way you’re not interrupted and you can get more done without that feeling of momguilt that you might find yourself getting during the day.

Arrange a sleepover swap with the kiddo’s friends families. This can take some creative scheduling on your part if, like me, you have a larger family. But, never fear, it can be done.

Check into local Day Camps that activities for your kids to do, often times there are free or low cost programs available. We did this two summers ago for my youngest two and they loved it. It was a small group, it cost me less than 100 dollars for both of them to join up for the whole summer. They went swimming twice a week, did crafts, went to the zoo, and made a bunch of new friends.

Okay…. your turn! Let’s hear it. What tips or ideas might you have for making the best of your summertime?

Kind Regards,

I think I am the owner of the least graceful cat on the entire planet. Seriously, I mean that, he is a clumsy oaf sometimes. I was sitting out on the front porch while the dogs laid in the sunny spots on the lawn and our cat Maurice fell asleep on the deck railing, and then promptly proceeded to fall and crash loudly onto the deck.

He landed with a thud so loud he scared my neighbor who was weeding out her flower bed, she jumped up and looked around thinking something horrible was wrong. No, sorry, just my clumsy cat. We both laughed out loud at poor Maurice, who proudly got right back up on his perch of the deck railing and went back to sleep.

What’s my ridiculous point here and why I am comparing my clumsy cat to your online business venture? The point is that cats do not always land on their feet, yet they have this stunning reputation of being graceful and elegant and always landing on their feet. Why is that?

In my opinion it’s because cats are proud, they hold their head their head high no matter what. They get right back up, dust themselves off, and go right back to what they were doing having learned from their fall and doing a better job to keep their balance when they get back on the railing, or the window sill, or the shelf, or whatever the challenge may be that is in front of them.

In all honesty it’s how a cat presents themselves. They don’t put up with ridiculous things, they don’t worry about what those around them think, they do what they set out to do even if it takes them ten tries to accomplish their goal.

There’s a lot to be learned from a cat that you can apply to your business goals or even your personal goals. As long as you proud of what you’ve done hold your head high and carry on. If something needs tweaking, then tweak it. There’s no harm in fixing things or changing things as you go along.

Have a great day,

Good Morning WAHMs,

I come to you today with much sadness on my heart. The WAHM community has been rocked with so much tragedy these past few weeks. Today I come to you and ask you to pitch in and help out a friend, a neighbor, and someone you likely already know. Melissa Ingold, aka Internet Marketing Sweetie has made her way into our hearts and minds by providing quality content and great information and helping as many work at home moms as she can reach out to in a day.

Today I ask you to repay Melissa’s kindness by sending a loving thought her way after the death of her son Kyle, and if you are capable sending a few dollars her way to help ease the burden of funeral expenses for her family. Kelly McCausey has stepped up and organized a fundraiser page and I strongly encourage you to click on one of the options you’ll find there http://www.wahmtalkradio.com/fundraiser-please-help-out-a-wahm-her-family/

Kelly has generously offered to donate profits from two of her products if you would like to buy a Mom Masterminds Membership or a Blog Internship package, and there is the third option of donating directly via Paypal to Melissa and her family. I personally chose to donate directly to the family and sent what I could from my Paypal account.

I only wish that I had been able to donate more to help Melissa out. Remember, every single dollar counts in a time like this. Regardless of what you do, think a positive thought and send a virtual hug her way today, then go and hug your own children a little extra today too. I know she will appreciate it.

Here’s the link to the fundraiser page again: http://www.wahmtalkradio.com/fundraiser-please-help-out-a-wahm-her-family/

Kind Regards,

When you look back ten years ago, life seems pretty simple. Cell phones were a luxury item and if you were really lucky, you had dial-up internet. People were blogging, but they didn’t know they were, as the word “blog” wasn’t used to describe these online journals. No one was podcasting, and there weren’t any iPods, so you couldn’t listen to a podcast anyway.

Thanks to rapid investments in technology and the widespread availability of high speed internet, the world is a much different place today. In the past few years, blogging became one of the biggest online trends. You could find a blog on just about any subject and the people writing them came from all walks of life. Businesses caught on to this phenomenon and realized what an effective tool this was for communication and promotion.

A trend has popped up in the blogging world: audio. Instead of typing your thoughts and feelings, you can simply record an audio file and upload it to your blog. This is exactly how podcasting became popular. The first podcasts were actually “audio blogs”. It caught on so fast, that these audios took on a life of their own and became an entirely different category, more similar to an internet radio show.

Using audio on your blog is a great way to add interest and let your personality show through. You can keep it simple; you don’t need to add audio to every blog entry
and don’t have to develop a whole podcast. If you wanted to simply add a touch of audio, you could record a welcome greeting that your readers could listen to upon entering your blog.

If you currently have a large readership and are afraid that you will lose readers if you change your format, you could work the audio in slowly. You could add a bonus audio message to a few posts. For example, if you wrote a post about housecleaning, you could add an audio message containing your five best tips for quick cleaning. Your readers could choose to listen to it if they wanted.

If you find yourself getting a lot of positive feedback, you may want to increase the amount of audio you add to your blog. You may even want to have a few posts per week that are strictly audio based.

You will find that some people absolutely love audio and will greatly enjoy audio blogs, and some will prefer to read blog posts. Combining the two can add a bit of variety to your blog and keep all of your readers and listeners happy.

There are several companies that provide audio services that make recording your blog posts simple and easy. You can check out Audio Acrobat as well as Hipcast, Whistletree, and Blog Talk Radio. You can also perform a Google search to find more companies providing this service. Each company will have different pricing and options, so check each one out thoroughly before making a decision.

Kind Regards,
<img src="http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r141/terrapin719/buttons%20and%20stuff/Loretta-EWW.png" alt="Loretta'>

P.S. You can also take those audios and turn them into products! A series of audios can become an instruction course, a teleseminar series, and more. Adding audio opens up new income possibilities in addition to making your blog more personal and interactive.

I put off making my plans for summer way too long, in all honesty I’m probably not ready for summer. The kids are home all day and that changes my schedule a little bit. My oldest two asked me for “summer jobs” to help with a few of my websites. I promised them I’d give them some work at least one day a week – and I’m actually thinking about letting my oldest open his own blog, he wants a blog about video games. Actually, the only reason I haven’t set one up for him is I’m afraid he’ll use the excuse of “research” to play more video games … heck, that’s what I would do LOL

Anyway, when Monday rolls around I have to start my new summertime schedule and start implementing new things to achieve my summertime goals. Oh yes, there are goals involved here. I’m constantly re-evaluating my goals and trying to line things up to achieve my ultimate end results. A few of this summer’s goals include…

$3,250 monthly income by the end of summer

new niche affiliate site set up, reviews added, backlink building started and getting decent traffic

more free time achieved by outsourcing some of my repetitive tasks

main goal to have a fun summer

Of course, there are little milestones in there and I have this big outline in my goal notebook with some very specific items that I want to reach.

I want to hear about YOUR goals for the summer. What do you want to achieve before fall rolls around and school starts again?

Kind Regards,

I sat down with my pen and paper to reevaluate my goals in an effort to get ready for NAMS (Niche Affiliate Marketing Systems) Workshop that I’ll be attending in August. I want to have a better idea of my goals and what I want to get out of the workshop this summer. Last summer I went to NAMS with a very broad idea of what I wanted to do – read that as I really had no idea.

Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t get anything out of the workshop, because I truly got so much from it and it directly helped me to focus and grow my business online. Ultimately, it led me to have a better set of goals for both my income and the lifestyle that I want overall. It’s not all about money after all.

So, first I took a look at the thing I was able to accomplish after NAMS last summer. I contribute a portion of my success in these things directly to attending NAMS and also to being part of Lynn Terry’s Mastermind Group. Without those two things I would never have made the amazing people connections that I made in the past year and I would still be stuck inside my own head wondering what to do next.

I was able to create a free viral report for my cross stitch site and that has received great feedback. <- I actually did this at NAMS during a session led by Lynn Terry and Jeff Herring. It was an ah-ha moment for sure.

I cut back on my domain name addiction and got rid of anything that didn’t have content on it or that was distracting me from things that were more important.

I was able to make connections with awesome people!

I was able to create my own info product confidently and launch it out to the virtual world. That too has received great feedback so far.

I was able to increase my income by double in the past year due to the things I learned and the connections I’ve made.

I was able to blog more freely, confidently, and without being stuck on what to write about.

I saw how adding affiliate marketing to my plan would allow for passive income and multiple income streams and relieve a huge weight of stress.

Okay, so I’m basically brainstorming out loud here at this point, but here are the goals I have listed for this summer so far.

Increase income with specific financial goals by the end of the summer and the end of the year.

Add one affiliate review style website to my website collection. (I actually want to have this started before I get to NAMS in August)

Build links and rank in the top five results for at least three main keywords for that affiliate review style website.

Add two more info products to my portfolio by the end of the year. (Have one partially done already)

Grow my transcription business and incorporate a team of backup transcriptionists. (Already in progress)

Outsource a little more than I already am so that I can focus on product creation and transcription clients.

Build links, build links, build links. (I’m currently working my way through the 5,000 Backlinks product and testing out some other strategies as well as looking at outsourcing this piece of my business to free up some more time.)

So, this general plan of action gives me three income streams as far as I can see. One, direct service based income trading time for money in my transcription service offerings. Two, affiliate income from the affiliate review style product website. Three, direct income from the sales made of the info products I create. Number three is most interesting because that is income from sales made directly by me and by the affiliates of the product, so the growth potential is huge.

Now, I just need to figure out my direct plan of action for each thing on my list and start incorporating and implementing appropriate strategies to reach those goals. I’m thinking there will be quite a bit of outsourcing involved and that’s okay with me, I love paying other people to do things and helping them increase their income too! Outsourcing is always win-win in my book.

Okay, now that I have rambled on about my goals and ideas I would really like to hear from you. What are your current goals and is there anything you are struggling with?

Kind Regards,

P.S. If you are interested in attending the August NAMS Workshop I heard that there are about 20 seats left (probably less this morning) so now is a great time to grab a ticket. I look forward to meeting you and having lunch or dinner with you during the weekend!

I love how little themes pop up around here. PLR and blogging seem to be key points lately and this weekend’s Q and A is no exception.

Reader Submitted Question:

PLR seems to be all the rage, I was thinking about starting a PLR website but I’m worried about the market being saturated. What do you think? Is this an easy business to start?

Obviously I like a nice balance of service business and passive income, I think it’s a good way to go for cash in hand while planning for the future at the same time. I’m also very clearly a fan of PLR – I even offer it from time to time as part of my growing business model.

Do I think it’s a good idea to start a PLR website? Absolutely. If that’s what you want to do I say go for it.

Do I think the PLR market is saturated? Yes, but with crap. What we need is more quality PLR websites and services out there.

Is this an easy business to start? No, but nothing worth doing is ever easy. Actually, there are a few parts that are easy, but I think the hard parts like getting traffic and building your list will balance it all out in the end.

Okay, so let’s look at this a little more.

I would say the first thing to look at are some successful quality PLR services, see what they offer, check out their sales pages, and maybe even search the web for reviews of their offerings. A few of my favorites are Easy PLR, PLR.me, Yummy PLR and All Mom Content. All three of these have great followings and offer up quality PLR articles of various types.

Next, I would think about what kind of PLR you want to offer. Do you want to keep things general and cover a variety of topics or do you want to focus on a particular niche market? For example, Yummy PLR is just recipes and food related. You could focus on a niche topic that you feel comfortable in. Maybe for you it’s crafts, or pets, or technology. I think it’s safe to say that every niche on the web could use some great content!

Now you need a domain name and some hosting if you don’t already those things. Don’t worry the good domain names aren’t all taken – that’s just one of those crazy internet myths that people want you to believe. Here’s just a few domain name suggestions, and these are all available as of the time I’m writing this.

That’s just a small sampling of domain names off the top of my head in a few minutes just now. I didn’t even dive in really deep to dig for more names, so I would venture to guess that there are loads of PLR related domain names available to grab up.

Now you need to get some content to sell on your PLR. You have a few choices here. You can write all the articles yourself, which is how a lot of PLR businesses first begin. You can outsource the article writing to a ghost writer or several writers depending on how many articles you need.

There’s a third option here actually. You can buy a PLR package that has full resell rights for you to sell the PLR as well. All Resell Content offers a service for this and you’ll get fresh content to sell to your PLR customers every month without having to write a word or hunt for ghost writers all over the web. They rotate subjects each month so that you are constantly able to offer something different in these niches….

The team at All Resell Content also provides you with a few extra perks in addition to fresh content. You’ll get a guide to selling PLR on the web, including tips on how to retain customers month after month and a private discussion area to talk about the business with other PLR sellers. One advantage to this option is they limit it to 100 licenses for offering the PLR rights, so you won’t be swamped with competition.

That’s all I can think of on the topic of getting started selling PLR right now. If I missed anything or you have further questions please feel free to email me again or go ahead and post in the comments here. Enjoy the PLR resources above, they’re all great resources and quality PLR. Follow those examples and I know you’ll go in the right direction.

Kind Regards,
